Trust and Vaccine Confidence: trust questions included in global survey

The Vaccine Confidence Project (VCP), established in 2010 at the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine under Professor Heidi Larson's leadership, monitors global public confidence in vaccines by analyzing media coverage and social media discussions. The initiative develops tools to detect early warning signs of vaccine hesitancy, collaborating with health organizations and governments to address concerns before they impact vaccination rates. During the COVID-19 pandemic, the VCP gained recognition for tracking misinformation and developing effective communication strategies, employing an interdisciplinary approach that combines epidemiology, psychology, anthropology, and data science to promote vaccine acceptance worldwide.

Today, the Vaccine Confidence project is fielding a comprehensive vaccine trust and confidence survey in 25+ countries. Initial workshopping based on an early version of the survey allowed for the collaborative identification of a few key areas where additional questions could be added to cover all Trust Framework components. The revised survey will now help to provide validation of single-question measurement of the Trust Framework – and for the first time allow us to explore trust data at a much larger scale. We are grateful to the VCP team for providing this opportunity – and look forward to following this comprehensive piece of work as it moves forward. Stay tuned!
