Using Trust to Reach Zero Dose Families

The Vaccine Trust Team had the pleasure of joining Gates Foundation stakeholders and teams from around the world as they discussed their work to reach zero-dose families. The Zero Dose Learning Agenda (ZDLA) brings together partners who are actively experimenting with different ways of reaching those who are currently missed or under-vaccinated. Working across a diverse range of contexts, the ZDLA teams have done deep research and designed interventions with and for communities – ranging from outreach to parents, to HCW training – which are now being implemented.

The ZDLA program is designed to facilitate continual iteration and improvement, so with this in mind the trust team was brought in to talk partners through the Trust Framework and demonstrate the utility of trust as a lever for reaching zero dose families. We shared some data on zero-dose family characteristics across Kenya & Pakistan (spoiler: they’re not all the same) and workshopped with the teams on where a trust lens or trust measurement could be better integrated into ongoing interventions.

Teams were enthusiastic about the new perspective on trust, and we learned a lot from what they are discovering as they implement. We’re excited to follow the progress of the ZDLA partners as they continue their important work – and look forward to further collaboration.
